Using the chord player

Create backing tracks with piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Select a tempo and style at the top, then add your own chords or click "Randomize chords" to get new ideas. Play your track by clicking the "Play" button or pressing the spacebar.

Click "Add section" to add a new section of chords. For each section, you can set the number of repeats and select a style variation to create contrast between different song sections such as verse, chorus, and bridge.

Click "Settings" to customize playback. A pop-up window will appear where you can select instruments, add a count-in, change the time signature, transpose the chords, and adjust the volume.

Click "File" to save, share, or download your chords. Note that you must be logged in to use these features. Once you've saved your chords, an "Open" link will appear in the file menu, allowing you to access your saved chords.

Adding and editing chords

Add a new chord by clicking the "+" icon or pressing Ctrl/Cmd + N. Edit a chord by clicking it and typing a new chord on your computer keyboard. Alternatively, double-click the chord to open the advanced chord editor.

When typing chords on your keyboard, start with a root note (A–G) and optionally an accidental (# or b). Then enter a chord type (m, dim, aug, sus2, sus4, 6, 7, or maj7), followed by an extension (9, 11, or 13). Use / to specify a bass note.

Drag and drop chords to change their order. Change the duration of a chord by dragging the right edge of the chord box or by double-clicking the chord to open the advanced editor. Delete a chord by dragging it away or pressing Backspace.
