Start exercises →How to practice ear training
Ear training is the practice of developing the ability to recognize musical elements such as intervals, chords, scales, and rhythms by listening. This skill is essential if you want to improve your musical understanding, play by ear, improvise, and learn songs faster.
Work through the exercises in each category from top to bottom. The exercises gradually increase in difficulty as you progress. Focus on recognizing the sound rather than guessing, and repeat exercises until they feel familiar before moving on.
It can be helpful to sing the notes you hear. For example, when practicing intervals or scales, try singing each note individually, starting from the lowest. This helps you better understand how the notes relate to one another and makes it easier to identify what you're hearing.
Short and regular practice sessions are more effective than occasional long ones. Practicing for 10 minutes each day helps you gradually improve your listening skills. As you become more trained, you will start to recognize musical elements more quickly and accurately.
